ABOUT EMILY
Emily Wicks is a dynamic strategist, communicator, and leader with a broad range of experience in public policy, government affairs, and political advocacy. With a strong foundation in legislative processes, policy development, and grassroots organizing, Emily has spent over a decade helping organizations across Washington state—and beyond—craft and execute strategies that drive results.
Born and raised in Western Washington, Emily's career began in 2008 at Gallatin Public Affairs, where she honed her skills in strategic planning and communications. She later played a key role as Deputy Finance Director for the successful campaign to elect Governor Jay Inslee. Emily also served as a legislative aide to former State Representative and Lieutenant Governor Cyrus Habib, and as the communications and community relations coordinator for the Marysville School District. In this role, she worked closely with students, families, and community stakeholders to strengthen local engagement and support district goals.
In 2018, Emily founded Bossy LLC, a consulting firm focused on communication, public involvement, social media, and strategic support for clients throughout the Snohomish County region. Through her business, she has helped numerous organizations build their presence and drive positive change in their communities.
Emily's passion for empowering women in politics led her to serve as President of the Women's Political Caucus of Washington (NWPC-WA), a position she held from 2019 to 2021 and an active member since 2013. During the 2020 pandemic, Emily helped navigate the organization's challenges and kept it afloat as she also took on a new role: State Representative for Washington's 38th Legislative District. Appointed in May 2020 and elected in November 2020, she served a full term in the Legislature from 2021 to 2022.
Emily holds two bachelor's degrees in political science and public relations from Washington State University. Outside consulting, she is a writer, podcaster, and content creator.
Emily lives in Everett with her husband, James "Bubba" Day, and their black lab, Charlie. She enjoys political strategy, snarky feminism, Mariners baseball, and discovering new adventures in the stunning Pacific Northwest.
